A co-worker stopped by my desk today to ask a question. The topic was not ground breaking, earth shattering, or profound. It was, however, thought provoking. It was enough to stay on my mind most of the day.
No, it was not as profound as the answer to the meaning of life in The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
Nor did it attempt to explain a viable hypothesis to explain the meaning of life -
No, it was much more than just the question and the thoughts behind it, and the conversation that followed. It was, actually is, about the human element of the idea creation and incubation. We agreed where we needed to go and the answer...yes we jumped to a conclusion, but not like this guy -
As much as I love technology and all that it does for us, there is no replacing the human connection when thoughts and ideas are openly thought out whether they are accepted or discarded. Some folks prefer long walks to hash out ideas, while others prefer meditating to find the right idea. In the end, that idea must come out of the closet and be discussed. It is then when that thought can really grab traction and possibly become the next great idea.
The randomness of this blog posting is because of the thoughts that have stayed with me since my lunch conversation. I'm still thinking through what was discussed and doing some light reading to better understand some aspects of the topic du jour. But, hey, at least I'm not doing powerpoint engineering...yet...
