Last week, I blogged about the recent FBI facial recognition software that will go live in the next couple of years. In it I referenced a paragraph from George Orwell's novel 1984. This is a link to the FBI article. Yesterday on my Facebook page, I posted a link to an article about a new software application called MindMeld. MindMeld is an app that by listening to your conversation tries to anticipate your discussion topics and display that information (photos, blogs, news articles, tweets, facebook postings, etc. The list of mineable information will only be limited by what is available on the interwebs.
Are you making the connection between the two news articles? It seems very likely in the near future that an FBI agent could conference in other agents using something like MindMeld and then discuss you. Your photos from the handy dandy FBI facial recognition system and the openly available information found on the interwebs could pull a lot of information almost instantly on you.
You're probably okay since you've not done anything illegal. Right?
